SpotterLA

Privacy Policy

Effective November 6, 2026

The short version: SpotterLA doesn't collect, store, or share any personal data. Your location is processed only on your iPhone and is never sent to us or anyone else. There are no ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no accounts.

Location

SpotterLA uses your iPhone's location to find nearby speed cameras and alert you as you approach them, including in the background (this is why it asks for “Always” access). All of this happens on your device. Your location is never uploaded, logged to a server, or shared with anyone, including us.

The map screen is provided by Apple Maps. When you view the map, Apple loads map imagery for the area shown, under Apple's Privacy Policy.

Notifications

Camera alerts and subscription reminders are local notifications created on your iPhone. We don't use a push notification server.

Subscriptions and payments

SpotterLA Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple processes your payment, and we never see your name, email, or payment details. Apple provides us with aggregated, non-identifying sales reports. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data stored on your device

SpotterLA saves a few settings on your iPhone, such as whether protection is on and when each camera last alerted you (so you aren't alerted twice in a row). This data never leaves your device, and deleting the app removes it.

Third parties

SpotterLA contains no third-party SDKs, advertising, or analytics. We don't sell or share personal information, as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), because we don't collect any.

Children

SpotterLA is a driving aid intended for licensed drivers and is not directed at children under 13.

This website

spotterla.com is hosted on GitHub Pages and has no cookies, analytics, or ads. Like any web host, GitHub receives your IP address when you visit. The camera map is provided by Apple MapKit JS. Apple receives your IP address and the map area viewed, under Apple's Privacy Policy. “Near me” uses your browser's location only on your device; it is never sent to us. See GitHub's privacy statement.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
